Ø  Pakistani Playwright Madeeha Guahar Passes away
Ø  Renowned Pakistani playwright and director Madeeha Gauhar died of cancer. She was 62. In 2006, Gauhar became the first Pakistani woman to be honoured with the prestigious Prince Claus Award for her leadership of Ajoka.
Ø  World’s Oldest Person passes away at age of 117
Ø  The world’s oldest person, a 117-year-old Japanese woman named Nabi Tajima had passed away. Tajima, born on Aug. 4, 1900, was the last known person born in the 19th century. According to the U.S.-based Gerontology Research Group, another Japanese woman, Chiyo Miyako, is now the world’s oldest person.
Ø  Indian Animation expert Bhimsain Khurana passes away
Ø  Indian animation pioneer and multiple National Award winner Bhimsain Khurana had passed away. He was 82. Khurana was known for films like “Gharaonda” and for iconic animation shorts like “Ek Anek Ekta”.
Ø  Former Delhi High Court chief Justice Rajinder Sachar passes away
Ø  Former Delhi High Court Chief Justice Rajinder Sachar passed away. He was 94. Sachar, who was Chief Justice from August 6, 1985, to December 22, 1985, has since his retirement been associated with the People’s Union for Civil Liberties, a rights group.
Ø  Former US 1st Lady Barbara Bush passes away
Ø  Former US first lady Barbara Bush passed away at the age of 92. As the first lady, from 1989 to 1993, she embraced the cause of universal literacy and founded a foundation for family literacy.
Ø  Noted Artist Ram Kumar passes away
Ø  Noted Indian painter Ram Kumar died in Delhi. The Padma Bhushan awardee from Shimla was 94. He was honored with the Padma Shri by in 1972 and Kalidas Samman by the Madhya Pradesh government in 1986. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2010.
Ø  Veteran journalist S. Nihal Singh passes away
Ø  Noted journalist and former Chief Editor of The Statesman and The Indian Express, Surendra Nihal Singh passed away at 88. He was awarded the prestigious International Editor of the Year Award in New York for his role in opposing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s emergency in mid-1975.
Ø  Noted Assamese film-maker Munin Barua passes away
Ø  National award winning Assamese film-maker Munin Barua has passed away following a prolonged illness.
Ø  Former Guatemala dictator Efrain Rios Montt passes away

Ø  Former military dictator Efrain Rios Montt, who ruled Guatemala between 1982 and 1983 and was accused of genocide, passed away on April 1, 2018. He was 91.
