Ø Roger Federer becomes Most Decorated
Laureus Award Winner
Ø Tennis legend Roger Federer
became the most decorated winner in the history of Laureus World Sports Awards
after he won twin honours at the 18th edition of the awards ceremony in Monaco.
It was his sixth award. The awards include the Sportsman and Comeback titles.
American tennis great Serena Williams won the Sportswoman of the Year Award
following her Australian Open success, her 23rd Grand Slam title. Serena is now
the most decorated female Laureus Award winner with five Laureus statuettes.

India’s Aadhaar and Umang App win awards at world Government Summit 2018
Ø India’s Aadhaar and Umang
App have won awards at recently concluded 6th World Government Summit 2018 in
Dubai. Umang App won in Best m-Government Service. Umang App won in Best
m-Government Service Award for Accessible Government Category and Aadhaar won
in the Best Government Emerging Technologies Award. The award for it recognized
India’s efforts of invention and innovation in the field of technology and making
the country completely digitalized.

Award
Ø Vikas Sathaye, a pune-born
Indian engineer was recently honoured with the Scientific and Engineering
Academy Award at the Oscars Scientific and Technical Awards 2018 at Beverly
Hills in Los Angeles, California. Sathaye received the award along with his
team for their contribution towards the conceptualisation, design, engineering
and the implementation of the ‘Shotover K1 Camera System’ during his stint at
Shotover Camera Systems in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Award 2017 for CSR
Ø Reliance Industries (RIL)
has been awarded the Golden Peacock Award 2017 for corporate social
responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The award was a recognition, in particular,
of the work done by its CSR arm Reliance Foundation under Founder and Chairman
Nita Ambani.

2017 Award
Ø Shabnam Asthana was awarded
the ‘Times Power Women of the Year 2017′- Pune for Global PR. The Times Group
celebrated the invaluable contribution of women by introducing The Times Power
Woman 2017 (Pune) awards. These awards focused on the women of Pune and the
prestigious list included 34 select women with power, supremacy, command, and
control. The award was conferred on her by Dilip Kamble, Minister of State for
Social Justice and Special Assistance in the Government of Maharashtra.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Ø Mumbai International Film
Festival (MIFF) committee has decided to bestow V. Shantaram lifetime
achievement Award to veteran film producer and director Shyam Benegal. The
award will be presented at concluding ceremony of MIFF in Mumbai. He will be
awarded a trophy, cash price of 10 lakh rupees, a certificate and a shawl by
Governor of Maharashtra C. Vidyasagar Rao. Benegal has been selected for his
contribution to the promotion of the documentary movement.

Award 2018
Ø Odisha Government won
‘Geospatial World Excellence Award-2018’ for successful IT application for
tracking of mineral production. The award was presented at the Geospatial World
Forum Meeting held at Hyderabad, Telangana. The event was attended by more than
3,000 geospatial experts from 90 different countries. i3MS is GPS-linked
web-based software designed by scientists of Odisha Space Applications Centre
(ORSAC), Bhubaneswar.

Sahitya Akademi Bhasha Samman award
Ø Magahi writer Shesh Anand
Madhukar was honoured with Sahitya Akademi Bhasha Samman award 2018. He is
second writer of Magahi language to be given this award. Madhukar has been
working extensively for the development of the Magahi language. In Magahi, his
well-acclaimed works are “Eklavya” and “Magahi Bhulachal Hey”. His books have
been included in the graduate and post-graduate syllabus of Vinobha Bhave
University, Hazaribagh.
